In our opinion, the iPad 10th Generation is a highly commendable device in numerous aspects, likely worth purchasing for a majority of users. However, when assessing its value proposition, it emerges as a strong baseline iPad but not necessarily the best value per dollar. At its current price of $449, one might find other iPads, such as the iPad Air 5, available in the used market for a similar or even lower cost. This raises the consideration that alternatives may provide better value for many users.

This iPad, in circulation for almost a year, maintains a familiar exterior with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, offering good visuals with features like True Tone. The presence of USB Type-C and flat sides adds to its appeal. While the design hasn't undergone significant changes, it remains consistent with the iPad lineup. Notably, there haven't been many new releases in the iPad series this year, except for the iPad Pro updates.

A noteworthy addition is the compatibility with the newer Apple Pencil, making the iPad 10 the first to support two different Apple Pencils – the Apple Pencil 1 and the Apple Pencil USB-C. The recommendation is clear: opt for the USB-C version for optimal performance.

While the iPad 10 might not represent the best deal, considering alternatives like the iPad 9, it still stands out as a decent device. The iPad 9 is regarded as a better deal, offering similar functionality at a lower cost. Despite this, the iPad 10 is a reliable choice for users seeking strong hardware and a robust software experience. It incorporates the Apple A14 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM, delivering commendable power for various tasks.

In terms of software experience, the iPad 10 shines with iPadOS 17, offering a plethora of features and refinements. The software aspect is crucial, making it a better choice for users who prioritize an enhanced user experience. However, it's essential to acknowledge that the iPad 10 is not flawless, and its comparative advantage over the iPad 9 might not be substantial. Nevertheless, it stands as a decent iPad, well-supported by software updates, making it a worthwhile investment in 2024 for many users seeking a reliable and capable tablet.
