Palworld, Worth to Buy?

Today, we're going to be doing a review video on the game Palworld. The question is, is this game worth your money? We were thankful enough to get early access to the game, allowing us to test out various mechanics and features. Surprisingly, many elements in the game exceeded our expectations.

The game's concept revolves around Pals wandering around, and you can build bases. Initially, it's a simple base, but we plan to create more elaborate structures later on. You can capture Pals and make them work in your base for labor. For example, we captured a deer that is currently gathering wood, while a duck is using its ability to produce Palum fragments, and others are mining stone. There are various workbenches to craft items, contributing to the game's depth.

Now, let's delve into our overall thoughts on the game, highlighting some features and assessing its potential for the long term. One remarkable feature is the inclusion of flyers and ridable Pals, making travel more convenient. The game offers both single-player and co-op modes for up to four friends. The potential addition of dedicated servers accommodating up to 32 players adds to the multiplayer appeal.

Despite our general preference for multiplayer in survival games, Palworld's single-player mode works well. The game's grindy nature, coupled with the entertaining presence of Pals, makes it enjoyable. Palworld is available on Steam and the Xbox Game Pass, with potential considerations for a PlayStation release in the future.

The game introduces a Pal deck, cataloging captured Pals and detailing their work suitability for your base. With over 100 Pals in the game, each with unique traits, the variety is substantial. Breeding and hatching add another layer, allowing players to explore the map, discover eggs, and hatch random Pals.

Combat in Palworld takes some getting used to, demanding quick reflexes to survive encounters. The inclusion of statues for fast travel enhances exploration. Placing a PO box defines the range of your base, and as you upgrade it, you can expand your influence by placing more PO boxes around the map.

We encountered a multitude of elements during our exploration, most notably the statues scattered across the map. These statues, resembling small birds with wings, serve as fast travel points on every island. Approaching them unlocks fast travel, allowing us to conveniently move between discovered statues or return swiftly to our base.

Establishing a base involves placing a PO box, a crucial aspect explained comprehensively in our upcoming beginner guide video. The combat mechanics, although requiring a bit of adaptation, provide a thrilling experience. Vigilance is essential, as even seemingly regular Pals may possess unique and formidable abilities. We showcased a captured group of Pals and their activities at the base, emphasizing the need to maintain their sanity levels through entertainment.

In terms of crafting and progression, the game offers a plethora of options, with evolving lists and hidden entries waiting to be discovered. The strategic placement of PO boxes dictates the building range, encouraging players to level up their base for expanded possibilities. Ingram points play a vital role in crafting, allowing access to a diverse array of items and structures.

Additionally, the game introduces guilds, resembling tribes, enabling collaborative building efforts. Lucky Pals, akin to shiny Pokémon, add an exciting dimension, being rare and larger than their counterparts. We provided a glimpse of capturing a Lucky Pal, showcasing the engaging gameplay mechanics.

Despite its merits, the game does present some technical issues, such as an inconvenient autosave and checkpoint system. The protagonist's agility, particularly in overcoming obstacles, felt lacking, impacting the otherwise fast-paced movement. Drowning issues and a few technical glitches were noticeable but didn't overshadow the overall positive experience.

The game offers a vast array of items and structures, with some mysteries yet to be unveiled as certain items are blanked out until specific Pals are captured. Palworld also introduces guilds, enabling collaborative building experiences. Lucky Pals, akin to shiny Pokémon, add an extra layer of rarity and excitement.

Despite some awkward combat moments and the occasional technical issue, Palworld's beautiful world, fun combat, and rewarding progression make it a satisfying experience. The game's flaws don't overshadow its strengths, offering players a compelling and enjoyable journey. Palworld has its quirks, but it stays true to its unique identity, providing a game that challenges players to fight for every inch of progress.
