iOS 16.3 - All You Need to Know
Everything you should know about iOS 16.3 update
Apple has released iOS 16.3 with new features, changes, and bug fixes. The update size can range from 4-500 MB to over 5 GB, depending on the version. The build number for 16.3 is 20d47. A new modem firmware update is also available for most devices, including the iPhone 14 series, which can improve cell connectivity.
One of the new features in iOS 16.3 is support for physical security keys. This adds another layer of security to Apple ID accounts. This allows users to use a hardware security key as a two-factor authentication method, replacing the text message or verification code. Two security keys are required, and links to the Yubikey and Google Titan security keys are available.
End-to-end encryption for all data backed up via iCloud backup is now available worldwide with 16.3. Previously, it was limited to certain countries. Emergency SOS has also been updated with a new option for call quietly, which silences alarms and flashes during an emergency call. The emergency call feature has been changed from call with five presses to call with five button presses.
Additionally, there is a new section for Unity wallpapers, which are exclusive to iOS 16.3. The Unity wallpapers come in different colors and are for Black History Month. There is also a new Unity-themed watch face and watch band available with the latest watchOS release. This update also activates the hidden temperature and humidity sensor in the Homepod mini.
